Job Costing

Display cost and profit data so you can see how much you're making on each job.

Description

With the Job Costing add-on, you can quickly get a picture of how profitable a job will be while you’re quoting, then review how much you made after the job is complete.

With Job Costing activated

• Each job’s estimated profit is clearly displayed in the Billing view of a job card.
• Hovering over the profit shows a breakdown of materials and labour, and clicking the profit icon opens a detailed view of costs and profit.
• Administration time is automatically tracked, as this is often a hidden cost.

You can also compare what you estimated a job would cost when you were quoting it, against what actually happened. When a quote is sent or accepted, ServiceM8 automatically captures your estimated costs. Later, when reviewing job profitability, you can review your estimated costs (at the time of quoting) to your actual costs after completing the job (based on all materials added and time recorded).

This makes it simple to spot where your quoting was accurate, and where you under or overestimated, so you can improve for future jobs.

The Job Costing add-on helps you

• Prevent under-quoting for jobs.
• Check that all labour has been charged.
• Understand which types of jobs are most profitable.
• Improve quoting accuracy over time.
