The role

We’re looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our team in developing and maintaining the ServiceM8 web app, platform and microservices which are core to the ServiceM8 solution, used 24/7 by trade & service business around the world to work smarter.

In this role you will be directly involved in developing, maintaining and innovating the ServiceM8 web app and supporting platform, working with other developers, product managers & UI/UX designers, and reporting to ServiceM8’s CTO.


Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with product, design and development team members to prototype, build & test new versions of the ServiceM8 web app.
  • Provide constructive input into architectural decisions for new features.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain and continuously improve the ServiceM8 platform.
  • Identify shortcomings and opportunities in current technology and architecture and recommend solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance to other developers.
  • Stay up to date with new and emerging web development technologies, and identify and promote opportunities to make use of these technologies.
  • Identify gaps in automated testing and implement solutions.


Essential

To be the right fit for this role, you’ll need to have:

  • A solid understanding of CSS, semantic HTML and core JavaScript concepts.
  • Excellent full-stack web development skills with experience in:
  • ~PHP 7+
  • ~CSS3
  • ~HTML5
  • ~MySQL
  • A strong JavaScript background, with experience working with non-trivial Single Page Applications.
  • A strong background writing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Git & PHPUnit.
  • Experience with AWS or AWS Certification (AWS Certified Developer — ‘Associate’ or higher) to work with:
  • ~CloudFormation
  • ~SNS/SQS
  • ~DynamoDB / RDS / Aurora / ElasticCache / ElasticSearch
  • ~Lambda
  • ~ALB / EC2
  • A demonstrated understanding of core AWS services, uses, and basic AWS architecture best practices.
  • A demonstrated proficiency in developing, deploying and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS.
  • A shared belief in our values.


Desirable

It would be awesome if you also have experience with:

  • GitLab.
  • Docker.
  • ElasticSearch.
  • Memcache.
  • GraphQL.
  • OAuth.
